An Application Programming Interface (API) defines a programmatic way to access the functionality - and data - provided by a library or framework.
The IEEE Computer Society Digital Library (CSDL) REST API provides a way to access article data up to the Abstract level.
Your program talks to the IEEE CSDL REST API using the HTTP protocol, the same method that your web browser uses to interact with web pages, and follows the principles of Representational State Transfer (REST).
Because the IEEE CSDL REST API is based on open standards, you can use any web development language to access the API and then parse the response. Your methods will be the standard HTTP methods like GET and POST.
To use the IEEE CSDL REST API, you'll need an API key and password. Currently we accept registrations via email only.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information:
We will then send your API key and password, along with instructions on how best to use them.
